CHUCK MORSE TO HOST WEEKDAY TALK SHOW ON WSMN

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Veteran radio talk show host Chuck Morse will take the microphone at WSMN, 1590 AM weekdays from 9 to 11 a.m., starting March 10.

Morse's show will be oriented toward regional, national and international issues, utilizing the expertise of New Hampshire specialists to provide quality analysis and entertainment for WSMN's morning audience.

"Talk Back With Chuck Morse" invites calls, handled with Chuck's informed approach to radio, personable and respectful to his audience, and programmed to feature political, media, business, cultural and academic leaders with strong ties to the area.

Morse previously served as talk host at stations in Attleboro and Fitchburg. He ran for office twice as a Republican against U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, contending that Massachusetts was poorly served by having a Congressional delegation comprised of only Democrats.

Morse will devote several shows to the stalwart role that New Hampshire played in salvaging the Presidential campaign of U.S. Senator John McCain, and in staving off efforts by other states to usurp the Granite State‚s role as holding the first-in-the-nation primary.

"New Hampshire's Presidential primary is the envy of the other 49 states. Now we know why," Morse said. "It is as true a test of the electorate as exists in the nation today."

"New Hampshire is America's best political bellwether, and always will be."

WSMN is Nashua's first radio station, presently celebrating its 50th year. It is the sister station of WGAM in Manchester, which broadcasts the Red Sox.

Challenger makes defense a priority

In the upcoming presidential election, we could well miss an opportunity to have any significant input --Kerry will probably carry Massachusetts regardless of our vote. On the other hand, we have a real opportunity to contribute in the congressional election between incumbent U.S. Rep. Barney Frank and Chuck Morse, an independent.

The contrast could not be greater. Unlike Senator Kerry, who is only consistent in his inconsistency, Rep. Frank deserves credit as a consistent advocate. He is an undeniably honest and articulate spokesman for his positions. Unfortunately, he is consistently wrong.

The original issue that brought Mr. Morse into the election was Rep. Frank's vote against the Amber Alert program. This program provides rapid response to child abductions and enjoyed wide bipartisan support passing the House 400-25 and passing the Senate 92-0. To explain his unexplainable vote, Rep. Frank stated that he opposed the measure because of "Republican add-ons." It turns out that the only ad-ons required punishing criminals, child pornographers, and pedophiles.

Mr. Morse supports strong funding for the military, while Rep. Frank, even after 9/11, advocates cutting the military and intelligence budgets. Again this is a principled stand that comes from his belief that government has a greater need--to increase the scope social programs. Mr. Morse understands that the federal government has no greater responsibility than to defend its citizens from potentially catastrophic outside threats.

In a critical time when North Korea is developing nuclear weapons and increasing its missile capabilities, missile defense is particularly important. Mr. Morse is in favor, and Rep. Frank opposes it. I would like to ask Rep. Frank how he intends to defend us against the lunatic leader of North Korea. To paraphrase Democratic Senator Zell Miller, no other options seem left other than "spitballs."

Both Rep. Frank and Mr. Morse are pro-choice, but again there are sharp differences. Mr. Morse opposes any federal funding of abortion and favors limits on late-term abortion. Rep. Frank opposes any restrictions including even parental notification or the banning of the hideously gruesome partial birth abortion procedure. He voted against making it a crime to harm a fetus in an act of violence against the expectant mother because he feels that establishing protection for the unborn child would set a dangerous precedent.
On immigration, Rep. Frank sponsored the Frank Amendment in the mid-1980s, which prevented the excluding of immigrants solely because they had endorsed terrorism. U.S. authorities had to have knowledge that someone was likely to engage in terrorism.

Mr. Morse believes that entering the United States is a privilege, not a right. He believes that we have the duty to deny entry to anybody who might be dangerous to our society.

Rep. Frank consistently votes in favor of gun control while Mr. Morse believes, as does the NRA, that what is required is stronger enforcement of existing laws. He supports bringing "Project Exile" to New Bedford. Project Exile, a program that uses strict federal prosecution of convicted felons caught with guns, has significantly reduced crime in cities where it has been employed.
For pocketbook issues, SouthCoast residents should ask, what has the Massachusetts congressional delegation done for them? The state's congressional delegation (entirely Democrats) did secure $15 billion for the colossal money pit known as the "Big Dig," but have done very little for the SouthCoast, even though our area is in greater economic need.

While this may come as a surprise to locals who constantly see Rep. Frank on national shows, part of the problem is that he has very little influence in Congress. True, he is one of the most interviewed and visible congressmen in the nation; however, this has not translated into any useful return for the district. Nowhere is this more apparent than his complete lack of effort to secure federal funding for the commuter rail. In contrast, Mr. Morse will be a strong advocate for the commuter rail project and will work with the Republican Congress and Governor Romney to make it a reality. Because his views are more in the mainstream and because he will caucus with the House Republicans, he will be in a stronger position to succeed.

Rep. Frank's record is anti-business. He has a zero percent rating with the National Federation of Independent Businessmen, an independent group advocating for small and independent business. On the other hand, Mr. Morse is a small businessman and is pro-business. He believes instead of waiting for government programs to lift the economy, what we really need is to set policies that encourage capitalism to create jobs in the area.

We need a congressman that will work to encourage business to once again return to what was at one time the wealthiest city in America. We also need somebody who represents our values of protecting children and promoting life. America needs a congressman who understands the importance of securing her borders and investing in her defense.

YOUR VIEW: Rep. Frank should lead reform of predatory lending

Chuck Morse Mr. Morse is a radio talk show host at WARL, Attleboro-Providence. He ran unsuccessfully against Congressman Frank in 2004 and 2006.

Discussing his goals as incoming chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank recently said at a meeting of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce that he believes the American worker should "share the wealth" from today's soaring corporate profits. As chairman of this powerful committee, Rep. Frank will be able to use his newfound clout to reform the predatory practices of the most unsavory elements of the mortgage lending industry.

He also should address concerns that many Americans are burdened by inordinately high interest rates being charged by credit card companies. The skyrocketing national debt crisis is not simply the result of individual fiscal indiscipline. It also stems from decades of anti-consumer policies designed by corporate America and promulgated by Democrats and Republicans alike.

The sacred memory of the victims of the Nazi Holocaust must not be victimized by political correctness. The U.S.Holocaust Memorial Museum has done this by avoiding any mention of the Arab or Muslim role in the Holocaust and by ignoring the link between Nazism and current Islamic extremism.
Iran's president announces that the Holocaust never happened while simultaneously announcing that Israel should "be wiped off the map." The vilest anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are promulgated in the Arab press and taught to Arab children as a matter of routine. Anti-Semitic incitement has become a state-sponsored article of faith in much of the Islamic world.
The museum has programs on the role of Christianity in promoting anti-Semitism -- but nothing on Islam. It has programs on current genocidal threats such as Darfur -- but not when the threat is against Jews. It does mention current anti-Semitism in Europe -- but not in the Middle East. . . . .

Mountain: Barney Frank's role in 9/11
By Tom Mountain

Gerald Posner, author of "Case Closed," the widely acclaimed book on the assassination of President Kennedy, has penned another blockbuster, "Why America Slept - The Failure to Prevent 9/11." In it, Posner details how over two decades the breakdown in authority, jurisdiction and communication among the various levels of the government responsible for protecting our borders and preventing terrorist infiltration led directly to the establishment of foreign terrorist sleeper cells in the United States, which culminated in the terrorist bombings of Sept. 11, 2001. . . .Read the entire article

FALL RIVER -- Chuck Morse is seeking to bring a Republican voice to the people of the commonwealth.

To provide that voice, the Brookline businessman is making a second run at the congressional seat currently held by longtime Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Barney Frank.

"I’m running because I think that this district, with each of the members of Congress being a Democrat, need an alternative voice that is more in line with the general views and aspirations of the people of the state," Morse said Friday during a visit with The Herald News. . . .
